TJs has a problem with their distribution network as a California based company. The produce is amazing out west but it’s very hit or miss here. I am very loyal to TJ because they sell the only edible tortillas in the DMV. We also think their frozen vegetables and fruit taste better than most companies. I also like the quick cook barley and farro they sell (or did sell—they may have discontinued). And their cheese section beats the pants off everyone. We also do get some processed food there—frozen stuff for my teens to cook when I work late and some “healthier” (?) snacks like the jerk plantain chips or chili spiced dried mango. And of course the Kringle. I am a loyal Costco customer for about 4 decades. I would never buy stuff like ketchup there (except the time I was buying for a massive Girl Scout event!). We buy ground beef, frozen salmon, Kerry gold butter, premium vanilla ice cream, nuts, containers of expensive fruit like cherries, blackberries or mangos, Rao’s sauce, imported Italian pasta, and sometimes stuff like socks or underwear or t shirts there. In particularl I like their salmon. In winter when I can’t get it fresh, I also get big things of baby spinach and mini tomatos there. We used to get milk there but now get it at the farm, which we like better. Some of them also have organic bean and cheese burritos with no nasty ingredients that are 1/3 the price of the grocery store and which are really helpful in feeding my growing teen son, who eats them as afterschool snacks. Honestly, the savings just on those would pay the membership fee.
