My kid (in state) had a 3.99 GPA/4.43 wGPA with a 35 ACT and got waitlisted
Yield protection.
UVA doesn’t do yield protection, idiot.
Of course UVA does yield protection. How do you explain the disparity between ED and RD.
Yield protection is when you reject overqualified applicants because you don't think they would accept your offer.
Yield protection is also about students showing demonstrated interest in attending.
UVA does not track demonstrated interest. It does not yield protect like VT.
If UVA does not track demonstrated interest, why do they send personalized admissions links to high schoolers with their name in the URL?
Of course UVA yield protects. The people claiming otherwise sound so ridiculous. DP
I don't think they do. They focus on GPA more than other top schools for in state admissions but I have not seen 4.5 GPA students getting into Ivy+ but getting rejected from UVA with any sort of consistency. VT on the other hand rejects kids that get into MIT.
NP. I was under the ussumption that VT yield protected, HOWEVER I think that changed last year (HS class of 2024). Realize it's not official, but significantly more TJ kids attending than prior years per IG.
