I have mixed feelings about this. I've always loved his delivery/music, but I got turned off by him ALOT when he talked super ugly about Gayle King. Made me feel like he really doesn't respect women (his lyrics also). And, I feel like Leslie Jones sort of made over-the-top loving of the Olympics a thing and yet it is two men who are getting paid to represent. (Snoop and I'm assuming Flavor Flav is also getting paid something, though he started by supporting women's water polo). Anyway, I realize he's an entertainer and is pretty entertaining, but have mixed feelings about it. Maybe his laid back style is a nice counter to hyper competition?
+ million Very insightful
I had the same thought regarding Leslie Jones. She was hit or miss on SNL, but she was HILARIOUS during the last Olympics (see her take on rugby, for example). I think she took the everyman view of unknown-to-Americans sports and took it up a notch. It was a brilliant idea. Someone could have helped her develop them into fuller ideas beyond her tweets. For example, I think she got a free trip to the the last Olympics to kind of expand on her ideas. She also has a commercial this Olympics where she does her own gymnastics floor routine. However, for the most part, in 2024, they totally stole her idea and was like, let's have Snoop Dogg (and to a lesser extent, Colin Jost) do it. I think it was a a terrible example of stealing a woman's idea and rewarding a guy who is beyond set with fame and wealth. I get it that Snoop kind of knows how to play to a wider audience so they think he is a better bet, but it was blatant stealing of the idea. I don't know about Flavor Flav but at least he put his money on the women's water polo team so he kind of belongs there.
