As a man, I can tell you that so many divorced women post-40 are willing to bang without condoms and just a simple ask of “you’re clean, right?” without actually verifying my STD status by trading results. I insist on confoms and you can see the disappointment in their face. I have a vasectomy. It’s like nectar to bees - women see it as an invite to disregard condoms from the get-go. They assume that because I am responsible enough to get a vasectomy, I’m also responsible enough to avoid catching an STD. Ironically, the ones who are relieved about my insistance on condoms are younger women (20s to early 30s). They frequently say that guys their own age pressure them to forego condoms. If a divorced woman in her 40s-50s is banging a young stud, I can guarantee they are not using condoms. Both groups like to take risks.
Another snipped man here and I can verify that this is totally true. After my divorce, I assumed dating and having sex again meant condoms would be the norm and I'd just have to get used to it. I wrongly assumed that women would insist on condoms. Only a few, and I mean like 2 in 15 years insisted on condoms as a rule. Several others said I needed a condom because they weren't on BC and when I told them I had a vasectomy, they didn't want to use a condom any more than I did and they were clearly very happy that I was snipped. Getting that V was one of the best life choices I ever made. In the past few years, a few have asked for test results and I get regular blood work anyway so I'll request an STD panel (you have to special request the Herpes test) and I'm glad to show the latest results. I know going without a condom has it's risks, but I'd still rather share test results and choose my partners carefully than have sex with a condom. I hate them so much and the women I've known seem to hate them even more, much to my surprise.
