"I was afraid when I saw the handcuffs placed on [my son]," his mother Shanta Grant said. "I wanted to react but I don't have money to get an attorney—and then I'm arrested for putting my hands on a police officer." https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cbsnews.com/amp/baltimore/news/handcuffs-in-hallways-mother-of-handcuffed-5-year-old-speaks-as-wjz-looks-at-child-arrests-in-maryland-schools-elementary-schools/ This doesn't match the narrative going on in these comments.
Well, it also doesn't match the video. This is not a case where we have to rely on a she-said narrative given in the middle of a lawsuit. We can watch the video and see her actions for ourselves. I actually feel for Ms. Grant. The police absolutely should never have behaved the way that they did. That was beyond the pale and the fact that neither of them seem to have suffered any professional consequences absolutely impacts my impression of the MCPD. However, her words above are belied by her actual behavior and words. I'm sure she wishes she had done something. I'm sure Ms. Pfeiffer does as well. But only one person in that room was egging the police on, and it was the mom.
