These would be temporary work permits while immigration courts review their cases and determine if they qualify for asylum, which is not at all easy. And if they don't, they get deported. This does require more funding for the immigration courts, but as someone with NO legitimate role as an elected politician at the time, Trump took steps to make sure the actual elected politicians didn't pass it.

You are joking, right?  Do you know how many of these people actually leave the country when their asylum claims are denied?  Maybe look into that... because the number is incredibly low.  They stay. 
And, then we have Democrats whining that these people have been here so long so it is important to give them amnesty.  Nope.  
They break our laws to enter.  They break our laws to stay.  And, Democrats want to reward them.  Hell no.  [/quote]
