This makes sense.  Another advantage Catholic schools have is that the teachers are much more likely to be married than public school teachers, and to have another income in the household.  That more than outweighs the modestly higher public school salaries.  [/quote]

For a teacher who doesn't want to deal with public school classrooms, and doesn't need the paycheck, why teach at St Marys when SSSAS and Alexandria Country Day have even smaller classes? [/quote]
