Most people in the County supporting immigrants does not mean that we want to pay yet higher taxes for even more social services for immigrants. Look, certain schools in MoCo are now largely focused on bringing up the bottom (typically the immigrants from Central America, many who are illiterate in their native tongues). I moved to MoCo for the schools, yet ended up having to pay for private, at extreme cost, to simply insure that my kids got some teacher attention. [/quote]

Speak for yourself. I would happily pay higher taxes for programs that brought more migrants here as took care of them. And I support raising your taxes too, because I and those who care about these people shouldn’t have to do it alone. You can afford to chip in some more, too.

We can do both. It just requires electing people who aren’t afraid to raise taxes to a level where it’s possible to do real good for people.

Haha, you are foolish to think everyone in MOCO is an aspiring trust fund liberal. A single county cannot afford to alleviate the suffering of migrants from all around the world. This is unsustainable and the county does not have the resources to fund generous social support systems for tens of thousands of illegal migrants. I have a graduate degree and my spouse is a legal immigrant. This issue has nothing to do with race and everything with people breaking the law and abusing the system at the expense US of taxpayers. The "rich" are not an unlimited source of tax revenue that you can tax to pay for everything without and consequences. Many of the truly rich (especially those with mostly investment income) will move to VA if they feel that taxes are too high.
