The ones that excelled in the classroom and formed strong relationships with the teachers got great recs. Kids that participate in class, go beyond, display curiosity naturally, and excel, raise the level in the classroom--different than brown-nosing. Counselors didn't know kids as well and relied on the questionnaire and feedback from the teachers. My kid was more involved in a sport outside of school and I know he received fantastic recs even with more limited time in direct 'HS' activities. [/quote]
