I think “butch” is used in two different contexts today: (1). In the LGBT community, it is not a put down. The word may even be used to describe someone in a positive, favorable way. (2). In the broader community, it is used against women (gay or straight) as a put down or to be offensive. Crockett was using it in this context. [/quote]
