This is purely my observation: 1. Herndon parents seem to be less involved, resulting in a weaker PTA at Herndon High. 2. The Dranesville board member appears to only prioritize McLean and Langley. 3. Therefore, the HHS principal can run the school however she wants. 4. Many concerned parents either move or transfer their kids to other high schools. 5. As a result, fewer and fewer involved parents remain within the Herndon boundary.
Where do you get your information about less involved parents? Seems you are making assumptions because the meetings about this topic have been packed. Are you assuming that high FARMS rate means less parent involvement?? If so, you need to get out of your bubble.
Look at their PTA website. It’s very barebone. They didn’t even have an active PTA before. Looks like the PTA was nonexistent for about 5-6 years and started up again this year. Inactivity at all is bad and being inactive for years is a bad trend. It starting up again is a good sign but too recent to be very reassuring. https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/15/849430.page
