He is asking about the difference between SAECC, a daycare center that offers free PreK, and the charters that offer free PreK.  He is not thinking of sending his 3 year old daughter to STA which is a private school for boys that starts in 4th grade, and matches your description as a school for children from rich families.[/quote]

SAECC may participate in PKEEP, but it is still a private school. It runs on a different schedule than DCPS or charters. It gives priority to its current students for PKEEP, and the current students all pay over $2000 a month (unless they qualify for a voucher; SAECC does accept them). You can look at the pictures on the website to get a sense of the demographics of the school. Compared to the public schools on the list, which are each under 7% white and have at-risk percentages from 30 (Appletree) to 55% (Tubman) there is a clear difference.  [/quote]
