I think the bigger issue is why do so many people care? Medications are their own business. I don't go around telling people I have Type 2 diabetes, or that I take medication for high blood pressure and high cholesterol. They don't owe anyone an explanation - and it's weird that people are turning it into a shaming thing, to take a medication that helps them lose weight and improve their blood pressure and so on.
I only care because they are lying about it. They really don't owe anyone any words on the matter, but they should not lie.
+1 I care because it's gaslighting those that are trying to actually lose weight through exercise. Stop telling people you lost 85 pounds in 4 months because you take a 20 minute walk every morning. It's deceptive.
How does this impact your life? It doesn't. Stop worrying about what other people do and worry about yourself. BTW I tell everyone that I lost weight on Ozempic with no shame. But just look at the daily threads here and the hatred displayed towards us. Then maybe you'll be able to understand why people choose to keep this information to themselves.
I care because I don’t appreciate being lied to. Period. Stop lying. If you don’t want to tell people, then say you don’t want to tell them. Stop saying it’s because you walk for 20 minutes a day.
Are they volunteering information or are you asking? I just can't even imagine how these conversations are going. If someone says oh wow you look really great my answer is thank you. If someone asks oh my God how did you lose all that weight I would probably look at them and be like none of your f****** business. Just keep in mind that so many obese and overweight people have been shamed their entire lives and there's so much bad press and thoughts around using medications to lose weight because you're not doing it the hard way that they're afraid of getting shamed for not doing it the way that everybody thinks they should do it
