I'm in my mid 40s and it would be a really big occasion for me to have more than one or two drinks in 24 hours. A wedding, a night out or weekend away with DH or friends. Maybe a few times a year. I like good cocktails or wine but I feel awful the next day and need to rest and recover. As for weed though, I really enjoy gummies or other edibles, very rarely vape or take a hit because I don't like smoke. Never in front of or around my kids, never when I'll need to drive. Adds to the experience of a concert or nice dinner, or just to unwind with DH. A 5 mg edible is just right, I'm not sloppy or thinking unclearly, I sleep great, wake up feeling fine. I don't crave it and am in no way dependent on it. It's legal where I live and in my mind alcohol is much more risky at my age.
The only problem with gummies is they take so long to kick in. There’s a liquid kind that’s to help calm and relax that helps immediately. I know that’s not the one you’re looking for but immediate relief is helpful.
That's the one thing I miss about smoking. Smoking kicks in immediately so I can get to juuust the right level I want to be at, at the right time. Edibles you're always estimating and if you want to be just a little bit higher you're guessing the dose to add and waiting for it to kick in.
Actually there is now a fast acting edible (15-20 minutes) made by a few brands. Look for “nano” or “quick” or talk to the store employees. It’s the same thing as classic edibles but the active ingredients are emulsified before making the gummy. This allows your body to absorb and process the THC in a way that feels similar to smoking. I felt the same way as you until I found out about this new development.
