Maybe you think by nitpicking at perfectly normal grammatical simplifications you can seem somehow upscale, like you were educated at Choate? Do you not see the irony in harping repeatedly on grammar as somehow relevant to the discussion when we're discussing a racial/class issue?  If anything, you're proving the "California striver" stereotype, hoping you can distract from a legitimate discussion of an ethnic group and divert the discussion to one of petty grammar issues. Or maybe you aren't doing it on purpose, and you're truly that dense, and hoping that your focus on pedantic grammar rules will somehow elevate you to a social class you can never belong to.
