Immigration is a federal issue, not a state issue.

Also, in Texas, there is a not insignificant number of people who were born on this side of the border at home and do not have a passport or a birth certificate from a hospital.  They are citizens - but could Texas "deport" them? It's a terrible idea. [/quote]

Try living in an area where the government makes it hard. Yes, they exist, and that you don't get it shows your privilege.
