Everyone has noted it might be hard to find an appealing group of single guys 60+. I mean they clearly thought Gerry was the best they could do for GB...So it could be a matter of picking the guys first then seeing which lady might best fit them?
The casting director said they're looking for high energy men with compassion and empathy. Sounds like they're casting for Leslie? The description seems rather specific. In other news, Kathy and Susan are doing a BN-sponsored podcast. Feel a little bad for Nancy that she wasn't included. https://deadline.com/2024/03/golden-bachelor-kathy-swarts-susan-noles-podcast-1235861794/
Or maybe “high energy” is a euphemism for “not doddering”
Sure, maybe, but the compassion and empathy part?
Ok the compassion and empathy does make me think Leslie. But also makes me think producers are worried about her vulnerability. If she makes a successful match, I'm sure viewers would be very happy for her. But if she doesn't, or ends up traumatized in some way, ugh. Would just be too hard to watch.
She is such an eggshell it's almost inevitable.
Yeah, I like her but I'd be nervous watching.
My guess is they'll surround the lead with a number of caring and supportive friends and family. If it's Leslie, some GB cast members (I think she was closest with Theresa, Faith, and Joan), her Minneapolis friend crew, lovely brother and kids. Whatever happens with her love life, they will lean into the message of female empowerment and friendship. Which is what many of us enjoyed about the Golden Bachelor season, right? I think both Leslie and Faith are sensitive, and neither has had a great track record with men. We saw lots of crying and a good amount of insecurity from both. Producers want drama, so that's probably fine with them. But hopefully they'll do their best to take care of more vulnerable older women. Joan seems a little tougher, but maybe too reserved to bring much drama or interest from viewers. I like her, just thinking from producers' perspectives. But I'd happily watch any of them.
