NP and I am not going to read all the responses bc from what I have read, no one seems to notice that the choices are exactly the same as they were in the last election. Literally exactly the same. So it's difficult to see how this is worse. As it's the same. Regarding Nixon, I have purchased a bunch of shirts and pins from when Nixon was running. One says, "Nixon: now more than ever." It hits. I have also purchased campaign hats and shirts from the Reagan/Bush campaign. People are truly confused when I wear them. But it's not difficult to understand the message.
How is 2024 worse than 2020? You're really asking this question? First of all, January 6th hadn't happened prior to the 2020 election. We new Trump was awful during the 2020 election but we didn't know he was capable of completely ignoring his role as Commander-in-Chief. Secondly, Biden had had a few years off prior to the 2020 election and seemed fresh minded for a 77 year old. He currently seems feeble minded and just feeble in general. That's the perception of the majority of the American people and the people's perception is what makes a candidate effectively weak or strong. Never before have we had the absolute worst candidate ever going up against one of the top 3 most weakest/most unpopular candidates in our history. There is no other election that comes close to this one as far as being in the worst of the worst category. We are guaranteed a president that should not, by any measure, be president for FOUR more years after January 2025. Let's just hope it isn't Trump.
If Trump wins, do you think he will voluntarily walk away from the presidency after his 2nd term ends in January 2029?
If he doesn't, we can watch him get ejected from The White House by the new prez. That would be entertaining.
I don't think you get it. There won't be an opposition party. There won't be contrary judges. There won't be a non-compliant military or police force. There won't be a mechanism to "get ejected" from the White House. That isn't how authoritarians roll.
That isn't the way it works here in America, Boris. Now carry your ignorant, communist butt back to Moscow before you are ejected.
Dp- that isn’t the way it works NOW. they have been very open and clear about dismantling and destroying the guardrails, and checks, and balances, that underpin our democracy. Your ignorance is becoming tiresome, and inexcusable. Do better.
Oh, I forgot how mind-numbingly stupid you Trumpers were. Go read The Constitution. Oh, wait... you can't read, can you?
Honey, log off. You don’t even understand what you are reading and who you are responding to. Hint: not a Trumper Hint: definitely someone who has read project 2025 and is justifiably alarmed.
DP You misunderstood what that person was saying. You said that’s “not how America works” and you are correct but so was PP when they corrected you and said “now”. Because democracies CAN die and when authoritarians get control, they dismantle those guardrails by installing loyalists. So PPs point was not to have a false sense of security. It CAN happen here.
I get the energy behind the concern. The thing is, it can't happen here. When you suggest that it can, you are discrediting the brilliance of our founding fathers. I have to draw the line at that point because I care. The people that spew this nonsense are repeating garbage they heard from people like Sean Hannity and Rachel Maddow. Guess what? These cable news anchors are professional fear-mongers. They are not Constitutional scholars and they don't care to be. I'm sorry to come off as know-it-all jerk. I don't know it all but I do know that Trump, Biden or any other president will not transition to "dictator". It should bother all Americans when the cable news people are able to successfully dupe otherwise smart people into fearing something that isn't possible.
The Constitution doesn’t have magical powers. It only works if people agree to follow the rules. If there is no “forcing mechanism” left, then what? After what happened on January 6, 2021, don’t you think this is a legitimate concern?
