This is the ultimate tell. If the pro life movement truly believed that a fetus was a valuable human life worthy of protection, then they would be doing everything possible to prevent unwanted pregnancies. If protecting unborn babies were the real goal, they’d be working hard to ensure easy access to every type of birth control. But no… of course that’s not actually the goal…
Remember when Colorado pioneered that study for IUD use in teens and teen pregnancy cratered? And you’d think that if avoiding abortion were soooo important they’d have supported that project going nationwide? Yeah, that’s not how that went.
How did it go?
Thank you for asking. The GOP shut it down on the flimsiest of pretexts. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2015/may/06/colorado-contraception-family-planning-republicans Regretfully at this point the media, even the Guardian, was still unwilling to name the GOP’s misogyny for what it was.
Republicans in the Colorado senate considered the IUD AN ABORTION. The article just barely acknowledges the harm inflicted by Republicans. I’m so sick of the media giving them a pass.
+1 IUDs are some of the most effective forms of birth control and considered abortifacients by the crazies on the right. They’re first on the birth control chopping block if they’re in charge. This Oklahoma bill was written by the zealots at Alliance Defending Freedom, where Speaker Mike Johnson worked before he was elected to Congress. It passed out of committee and restricts IUDs in addition to a bunch of other dumb stuff. https://www.fox23.com/news/new-abortion-bill-would-also-restrict-contraceptives-iuds-and-create-an-abortion-database/article_16657b96-cba7-11ee-99fd-032cd643a12c.html
