You could give me warm, home made bread, and call it done. I will happily eat that with a good quality SALTED butter at room temperature. Or give me focaccia and skip the butter. Other things I enjoy: Home made salsa (spicy), guacamole, and spinach artichoke dip with chips, or a few different flavors of hummus with pita or naan dippers Samosas and pakoras Summer rolls (not fried) Good desserts - Panna cotta, boozy trifle, tiramisu, tres leches, etc. Or a really good chocolate chip cookie, straight out of the oven. Skip the cloyingly sweet, American buttercream based cakes. And for the love of god, don’t serve oatmeal raisin cookies at a gathering. The disappointment one feels when they bite into a cookie thinking chocolate and instead encounter raisins….
You remind me of my DD. One time we got carry out from a restaurant and picked out cookies for dessert. I actually wanted oatmeal raisin but she had selected chocolate chip. She ate her dessert immediately after supper, while I waited until the kids were in bed so I could relax while I enjoyed my treat. When I finally went to retrieve my cookie, it was nowhere to be found, all that remained was a chocolate chip cookie. When I asked DD about it the next day, she said she thought her chocolate chip cookie had tasted funny.
