[/quote] I understand where you are coming from - but in this situation - the kids in question and the OP did not set up a trust to shield/hide money. The estranged grandparent set up the trust for the kids - skipping the generation of their parent. Sounds more like a toxic situation to me than a situation where rich parents are hiding money to game the system. [/quote]
