The burglars couldn’t take the chance of getting caught and so they killed Laci and then they dumped her body where Scott had been fishing because that information was released earlier when she was still just missing. The police ignored the leads. He is not a saint, or even a good person really for what he did as far as having an affair, but I don’t believe that he did this. Even just watching the American nightmare documentary on Netflix has changed my view of how low the police will sometimes go to be able to pin a crime on somebody else, or ignore obvious leads.
What is the chance some random strangers committing burglary knew the exact spot a some neighbor across the street was going on an unplanned fishing trip on Christmas Eve? And said neighbor has just diy’d concrete anchors at his office and had no reason to be fishing in that area and the weather was not conducive to fishing and was also having an affair. So these burglars killed a near term pregnant women and managed to load her into their van and also on a boat to dump her without one single person seeing them and also having a air tight way to frame her husband all because they are some minor league house burglars. Really?
You’ve got the timeline all wrong, poster. You really should watch the recent docuseries on the case because it lays out exactly how this could have happened and it’s very, very plausible. By the way DIY concrete anchors are SOP for small boat fisherman. And in the documentary series they show how difficult it would have been for Scott to take Laci out in that tiny boat and toss her over without being swamped himself, especially with anchors attached to her. The physics don’t work out. Also there is evidence of jailhouse phone calls between suspects which suggest knowledge of Laci’s death and attempts to cover it up. For the record I’m a former prosecutor and former defense attorney so I bring that perspective- I’ve also been a follower of actual innocence exonerations for decades, since before I attended law school. I’m a strong supporter of conviction review units and innocence projects because I know firsthand that mistakes happen in the criminal justice system and sometimes law enforcement has tunnel vision from day one and prosecutors follow through with the mistakes of LEOs. We should all want justice so we should all support the DNA testing of evidence related to Laci’s case using the most sophisticated technology at our disposal. If her blood is on the mattress from the burned out van, then that’s where she and Conor died and Scott is actually innocent. Still a pig of a husband, but not a murderer.
Him being able to dispose of his wife’s body by boat is more likely that of house burglars killing a full term pregnant woman because she “might” have seen them burgling. That’s a huge leap to double murder from theft especially when 6 out of 10 victims are killed by their intimate partner. How long between release of Scott’s whereabouts to the news before her body showed up? How long did the doctors estimate it would take to dissolve away her head, hands and feet and also expose the fetus inside her belly? Does that timeline line up with being dumped only after the news about Scott or she had to be in the water since Christmas Eve?
In the recent docuseries they showed an experiment done with the exact size boat as Scott’s but which judge would not allow presented in court. It established how nearly impossible it would be for Scott to have single handedly disposed of Laci’s body out of his little fishing boat without ending up in the Bay himself. Laci and Connor washed ashore FOUR MONTHS after going missing. Scott’s whereabouts were discussed in the media within hours or at most a few days of her being announced as missing. There is nothing in the physical evidence to suggest she couldn’t have been dumped by other perpetrators. By the way it isn’t all that difficult for thieves to borrow a powerboat from a marina - happens fairly frequently in fact, ~4500 times a year.
So Peterson could have borrowed a powerboat instead of using his boat. Does that seem more likely than a random burglar using that marina to dispose of a body?
