I'm extroverted and friendly, and have often had people think I'm flirting with them when I'm 100% not.  It would super weird if anyone ever did that mid-conversation, and tbh, it would be pretty embarassing for them[/quote]

Yeah, I guess it does, to be honest.

Bc I'm a guy.  And there have been multiple times in my life where woman have gently (and sometimes not so gently) "I have a boyfriend."  or "Sorry, I'm married", when I wasn't even remotely flirting with them.

But who goes to a party and gets offended when someone mingles and chats?  And I would be super annoyed if I was chatting with a person at a party and they said "oh, a man is talking to me, let me physically pull my husband in (bc I'm so arrogant that any man that talks to me is clearly flirting with me)"[/quote]

I'll give you an example of how some people are ridiculous, thinking that people are always flirting with them.

About 5 years ago, I get into an elevator at my office.  I turn around and see a woman running towards the elevator bank, obviously in a rush.  I put my foot in the door to hold it for her.  When she arrives, I say something stupid like "Well, at least that counts as your exercise for the day"  (admittedly, a bad joke).  She does a half smile and says "I have a boyfriend"

I would bet a paycheck that PP's husband is like that, thinking everyone is flirting with him.  And as others have said, he gets his jollies off embarrassing other people, so it doesnt even matter if they are actually flirting or not.  He just needs an opportunity to embarrass someone[/quote]
