Pitt grad here. Pittsburgh seen from Mt. Washington or looking at the Point head-on is truly a beautiful sight. Cruising down the river on the dining cruises is another way to see that sight. Pitt's campus has the Cathedral of Learning which is one of the tallest university buildings in the world, not to mention having an inspirational back story. William Pitt (student) Union used to have the comfiest velvet couches in its elegant open access sitting rooms - great for a short catnap while taking summer classes. Heinz Chapel is a copy of St. Chapelle in Paris. Carnegie Library/Museum has a ton of world class art and fossils. Frick Fine Arts Building is a replica of an Italian villa with murals of famous art works. Hillman Library was immortalized in Michael Chabon's "Mysteries of Pittsburgh". Phipps Conservatory is a 10 minute walk up the street from the campus. Some highlights around town include the Andy Warhol museum, the Heinz History Center, and the revived hipster areas close to downtown. I don't live in Pittsburgh now but would happily go back if I could find a job there.
