These photos emphasize the difference for me. Also, since a PP has been harping on retouched photos -- the second photo posted above is clearly from a magazine shoot or promotional photo and is heavily retouched. The first one is likely not as heavily retouched but also appears to be from a media photoshoot and likely has had some light retouching, though probably just to correct color and contrast, not to reshape features. Most of the other photos that have posted in the thread are red carpet photos, which are least likely to be retouched. The only other photos less likely to be retouched are "off duty" paparazzi shots. So yes, you have to account for makeup and lighting, but red carpet photos are actually pretty good for looking at likely interventions a celeb has had, because they don't get photo-shopped but the celeb will be well lit and often photographed from multiple angles at the same event.[/quote]
