We live in North Arlington in a quiet street. Neighbors two doors down got a pit bull. They walk the pit bull a lot and it has always made me uncomfortable with small children in the street. The pit bull has not been violent yet against anyone. But recently, the neighbors have begun keeping the pit bull in their front yard, on a leash that’s about 20 to 25 feet, long but not long enough to reach the sidewalk. The pit bull barks aggressively at children passing by and is scary to them. It is also scary to adults. Personally, I hate the damn dog. Is there anything that can be done? Get the county involved?
OP, y'all going to have to walk on the other side of the street. Better yet, do your poor neighbor a favor and walk the other way. You sound nuts.
You don't sound totally nuts. Not totally, can you try this - when the dog is inside and the owners are home go knock on the door, tell the owners that you are really scared of their dog but you don't want to be, ask if you can meet the dog and then ask if you can give the dog treats when it is sitting out side. You might be mistaking the dogs "aggressive " barking for basic excitement and attention seeking, so just give being friendly to your neighbor a try. And take some dog treats with you.
