We have this now at our ES.  The PTA president got up in arms about it and he got the principal to tell the teachers to stop doing it.  Utterly ridiculous.  Cannot imagine trying to impose your worldview on an entire school like that.  Fortunately most teachers are ignoring the principal's new direction.[/quote]
I have friends who are struggling with tooth decay in their kids and teachers giving our starburst and all kinds of crap just exacerbates the problem. Did any of you guys have this crap when you were in school? Did you really have candy and bags of plastic garbage from china 25 times per year for every kids’ birthday? It’s totally unnecessary and I believe a symptom of how we self soothe in a period of time where life is unbalanced and awful so we stuff ourselves full of sugar and buy plastic crap from target to try to feel better. Just stop. Get off the wheel. [/quote]

Meanwhile most of us don’t do this nor do our kids.  Ice cream is a dessert/snack and nothing more.  It’s also why MCPS requires 3 quarters of Health class in MS, so kids can learn healthy choices and lifestyles.  More importantly most kids don’t eat it every day because then they would tire of it.[/quote]
