It depends. Typical non-functions magnet kid has 2-3 hours of homework a night. APUSH will add another 2 hours. If your kid gets home from the activity bus at 5 p.m. and takes a short break and dinner, they will be doing homework until 11 each night and have to be up around 6 a.m. the next day. This is seven or fewer hours of sleep a night, which is unhealthy for a teen and leaves little downtime. [/quote]

I think the workload really depends on how smart the student is versus how much of a high achiever they are. DC only does an hour of homework AT MOST on weeknights and goes to bed around 10:15. DC does do an hour or two of homework on Saturdays and Sundays. They have a 3.9 GPA. It's not a terribly hard/work-intensive program for students with a very high IQ and also don't take a ton of other AP classes in addition to the magnet courses. [/quote]

I hate to say it in response to your sanctimonious post that your kid is so much superior to others because they don’t take as long over their homework, but your kid isn’t the high achiever that you think they are within the magnet if they have a 3.9. That puts them in the bottom half.[/quote]
