This is so sad. I know it's equally sad that so many have died, but this man is not right in the head and the Army failed him (as it has failed so many mentally ill veterans). Mental health is not actually being addressed in this country.

The language of mental health + therapy is just being appropriated by narcissistic frauds like Jada Pinkett Smith.

We're not actually investing the public funds where they need to be invested. If this man had gotten the help he needed, if he had gotten compassion instead of judgment, if people had not dismissed his needs, nobody would have been in danger today.[/quote]

NP and what would you have mental professionals do? Maybe two weeks was the longest he could stay there.  Maybe he wanted to leave.  It is very difficult to do an involuntary hold, certainly not for longer than two weeks.  What if he was prescribed meds and didn’t take them?  I have a problem with always blaming mental health professionals (of which I am not one).  They only have so much they can control within the law.[/quote]
