I will be voting for all Republicans because unlike some of you, I am hoping for a strict abortion ban. And yes, I'm a woman and parent to a female 20 year old college junior. Some of us think abortion is murder and vote accordingly.
Some of us (though not me) take the position "The Only Moral Abortion Is My Abortion." I'm sincerely hoping you won't find yourself in that position with your daughter.
DP I’ve had an IUD for seven years and my child has had one for three. Planned Parenthood inserts them, too. Shrug. Abortion should be safe, legal, and rare. Hell, European counties like France have stricter gestational limits than the Commonwealth. Look, you know that Youngkin knows he’s toast if he tried to enact a six-week gestational limit like Ron DeS, dontcha? So dramatic 🙄
You sound like one of those people who said not to worry about RvW. How did that turn out? No, there is a real threat to women’s rights in VA if the Rs take the Senate. The Ds only have a narrow margin - 2 seats.
I’m still waiting for a “women’s rights” Dem to state what a reasonable gestational limit for legal abortions should be in VA…no one will answer. You know, because Dems say third trimester abortions aren’t happening and all. I’m listening because I believe 20 weeks, maybe 15 weeks is reasonable. Other women, even my mom, agree.
As I’ve said before, the current timeframe - 26w6d - is reasonable. Certainly no less. At 15w (or even potentially 20w), women still haven’t had their anatomy scan. Honestly, it shouldn’t be something for ignorant legislators/lay people to decide at all. I’m comfortable with doctors proving healthcare they deem necessary.
What you just wrote IS third trimester. WTF are you on about with claiming women still haven’t had their anatomy scan at 20 weeks? I don’t think you’ve had children. This, from Healthline: “Around 18-22 weeks of pregnancy, about halfway, it’s time for your anatomy scan. This ultrasound exam lets you see your baby and lets a doctor check for problems with your baby’s heart, brain, spine, and other systems.”
