Kenyon College is expensive. Return on that investment is not good. https://kenyon.edu/admissions-aid/financial-aid-scholarships/tuition-costs/ Annual total cost of attendance is estimated by Kenyon College to be $87,590 for this academic year. Health insurance--if needed--is an extra $2,500 per year. For a full pay student,a four year Kenyon College degree would be about $400,000 (as COA rises a bit each year). Kenyon College does offer merit scholarships ranging from $10,000 to $25,000--but recipients of the top amounts are likely to have options. Kenyon College is a small, rural, isolated, cold-weather school with a beautiful campus and a great swim team. The negatives are the isolation, the drinking/substance use, and lack of employment prospects offering reasonable pay after graduation.
Who are you and why do you live to crap on Kenyon? What did this cute little school in Ohio with excellent professors, a compelling history and a friendly vibe ever do to you? First of all, Kenyon is pricey if full pay but the difference is meaningless versus almost any other private school. Plus or minus 5k, who cares. And why is greater Columbus OH suddenly in the Arctic? The weather is probably milder versus anywhere in New England or the upper Midwest. Kenyon is definitely known for its storied English department (largest major) and is only now developing a proper computer science program, so it won’t necessarily compete well on average salary metrics, and it also sends a high pct into PhD programs (around 10 pct). But Kenyon grads are often very successful in their chosen fields and this is among the reasons why people like the school and are willing to pay up for it. Size wise, it’s just like almost all the other LACs, which are also usually located in rural areas. I just don’t understand what happened to you to cause this irrational contempt.
