I majored in sociology and I love to dance. Of course I love weddings. They are fascinating and fun. Our kids' friends and our friends' kids are now starting to get married and you better believe I'm going to every single one we get invited to. Plus, we're getting invited to some second time around weddings -- now, those are interesting. For those responding that they don't enjoy going to weddings -- please consider forwarding those invitations to me.
For the half that doesn't like weddings - can you tell them how to enjoy them? If you are not particularly close to whomever is getting married?
PP here -- I actually find the weddings where I'm not super-close to the couple or their families to be the most interesting. I just smile and ask people how they know the couple. You'd be surprised how much people will tell you, especially after a couple of drinks. Then you start connecting the dots of relationships. Watch how people interact with each other and with the couple. If you're at all interested in how families and friendships work, it gets pretty interesting. But, I do have to admit that if I didn't love to dance, and if my husband were not also someone who loves to dance and who indulges my tendency to be the first on/first off the dance floor, I probably wouldn't be such a fan of weddings.
