Drivers are required to stop for stopped school buses to reduce the chances that a driver will hit a child who is getting on or off a school bus. That seems like a worthy purpose to me, even though it might delay me in my car by a whole minute or possibly even two.
Well duh. But we're talking about a six lane busy major artery with dividers and traffic lights and not some little two lane neighborhood cul de sac. Most drivers are focused on the lights and the other five lanes of traffic and the turning cars. Stopping suddenly for something that no one else sees will invariably lead to accidents. That particular bus stop should be located within the driveway of that particular apartment building. It's River and Little Falls. It's not a good a place for cars to suddenly stop in the opposing lanes. They will invariable get hit.
If the school bus pulls into the driveway then it will have to back up out of the driveway onto the five-lane highway.
