Current HS students must have their schools send transcripts and recommendations, so if the school won’t do that, the application is dead in the water. Nontraditional students who apply years after HS can have a slightly different process, although they still usually need the transcript. The recommendations would come from different sources and have different goals, and colleges take life experience into consideration. At least that was my experience when I applied for college in my mid-20s, and the experience of other nontrad students I met, who were often in their 30s, 40s, and 50s. [/quote]

this is all correct - there are a few exceptions - for example Upitt allows rolling application (not on common app but on their own app) and uses self reported transcripts and does not need teacher or counselor recommendations. GDS kids often use this as an 11th school and GDS CCO has no idea. I'm not sure if there are other colleges like this that require nothing from the high school - would need to have a on-common app process and nothing official from high school needed

GDS CCO is inside the kid's common app so it has to be non-common app. And Pitt fills by mid-Fall (or gets harder at least) so this requires Aug/Sep application to have a good chance[/quote]
