Doesn't it strike you that the banner remover has a pretty entitled attitude? I guess he thinks the world revolves around him and he can just go around taking other people's property if he doesn't happen to be a fan of their team? Don't women get routinely villified on DCUM for being entitled? But here everyone attacks the (female) homeowner. It may not be a major crime but I sure would be more annoyed about this than if someone took my seat at Starbucks.
No, not really. I would have a much bigger problem with this if it involved anything other than a sports banner. We are all entitled to hang what we want but you have to be daft (and also have a pretty attitude IMHO) to not know you are inviting trouble. Please write back when the crime doesn't involve sports. I will be on your side then. I promise you.
I think both of you are pretty ridiculous. In the first post, the suggestion of misogyny seems far-fetched, to say the least. And in the second post, the suggestion that she somehow deserved this because it's a rival team (read, nto the Redskins) is absurd. There is not some separate rule for sports banners - this is exactly the same as if her bike was stolen from her front porch three separate times. (Although if you're suggesting that Redskins fans are either so morally deficient or criminally stupid that this behavior shoudl be expected of them - you make a compelling point.) For the record, I've criticized the homeowner numerous times because of her overblown rhetoric and hysteria. But let's be clear - she has every right to be irritated and upset, and every right to expect her property won't be vandalized or stolen. To say that she somehow deserved or invited this really is silly (although I admit, I probably wouldn't have replaced it the second time).
