Are you aware that the UK and Canada have citizens who originally hailed from all of those countries - and MORE?  China, Pakistan, India, Jamaica, etc.  Yet their official language is indeed, English.  That doesn't minimize the contributions of those who came from elsewhere and settled in the UK/Canada.  English is their official language (as well as French in Canada) and should be ours, as well.[/quote]

The legislature's time would be better spent on *ACTUAL* issues like gun violence, methamphetamine abuse, homelessness, spiraling healthcare costs, mental health, or any number of other things which are VASTLY more important and VASTLY more urgent than a national language. The only thing it's telling is that this is a pointless bill and a complete waste of taxpayer and Congressional resources to pursue.   And honestly I don't want to be the fool to tell the Navajo, Ojibwe and others that their languages are not American.[/quote]
