OP, you clearly never served. Every unit has to appoint people various eoles in their drug testing program. There is no "Urine Corps" in the Navy. No one is branched as a Urinalysis officer. But most officers are assigned to participate in implementing their urinalysis program. He also never claimed to be a fighter pilot. He graduated from Harvard Law and went into JAG. This thread is embarrassing in like 100 ways.
For DeSantis, yes.
Actually, no. It is embarrassing for Democrats who think pointing this out is in someway a negative for DeSantis. He has never claimed to be a pilot. Never. And, the fact that this was one of his responsibilities is not surprising. And, pointing something like this out just highlights the fact that DeSantis has served in the military unlike others in high office.
This whole shtick worked super well for John Kerry. And Mike Pompeo really burnished his record with his combat in Germany. DeSantis should definitely make a few more fighter pilot commercials.
John Kerry is the biggest poseur of them all. He is so full of himself and his insane plastic surgery face is crazy. No one can possibly take him seriously.
The point is that exaggerating your military service is not a political positive. And military service itself seems pretty irrelevant at this point in Presidential politics.
Yes but DeSantis isn’t exaggerating his experience. The Top Gun parody is not actual meant to tell people he was a pilot. It is tongue in cheek. Dukakis was unwittingly hilarious in the tank. He didn’t mean to be but he was. Backfire! And Kerry basically lied about what he was doing with the swiftboats and it was yet another instance of Kerry amplifying his own credentials. He was trying to evoke JFK in every way and it just didn’t work because he is fundamentally smug and unlikable.
