💕to OP and all PPs. I've wanted to remove added sugars but wasn't sure how to identify them or to start. I like that fruit and milk are freebies. And I'm much more aware of labels and the sneaky additions. I'm just really bummed about my new oat milk. I bought it so that I would start to make a healthier frothier tea at nighttime (vs. a glass of wine) but it has so. much. sugar. I guess I will cut it with regular milk and use it up. Then look for the ones with no sugar. Has anyone incorporated non-dairy milks into their regime?
NP here who went no added sugar a couple of years ago (with occasional lapses when something looks very good or can’t be avoided). I switched to oat milk as well and it doesn’t have added sugars unless you buy the sweetened kinds. The reason it seems to have added sugar on the label is because of the way it’s processed - the sugars in the oat are extracted out through the “milk” making process and then added back in - therefore the labels have to give the amount of the “added” sugar. But look at the ingredients- there isn’t any sugar listed there. The “added sugars” of the nutrition label are just from the oats.
