Judging from other threads, like today, many of the women in college won't be heterosexual. So maybe it will all balance out.
Agreed most women will identify as gay and everything will be fine.
Are people really so oblivious to how being gay works that they think this is it? This is some 1990's "choose to be gay" BS.
DP. Many, many gay people have chosen to be in hetero relationships because it was more socially acceptable. Do you think that could not happen in reverse? If the alternative is going through life with a partner?
I actually don't think that will happen. I think it's more likely straight women with degrees will marry men without college degrees. Are you straight? If so, would you want to marry another woman and have sex with her even though you're not aroused by her or turned on by her body?
People marry people for plenty of reasons besides sex. Even in straight marriages both parties aren’t always attracted to one another. Check out the boards here on DCUM. shrug
So you would marry another woman you're not attracted to?
DP. I’m guessing we’re all on the older side here with outdated notions of what marriage is. Here’s an article from the NYT about platonic marriages between best friends. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/05/01/fashion/weddings/from-best-friends-to-platonic-spouses.html?smid=nytcore-ios-share&referringSource=articleShare
I don't have a membership to that. You'll have to sum it up. Do the women identify as asexual? If so, then that makes sense. One can have love and intimacy without sex but asexuality is fairly uncommon, even in the LGBTQIA+ community. Also I've noted that you haven't actually replied to me. Would you do this? Marry another woman? Have sex with another woman? Marry another woman and not have sex with her? And yes, I'm a Gen Xer myself but no, I don't have an outdated idea of what marriage is. I'm not a heterosexual and think people deserve to marry people and be in fulfilling relationships. If a non-sexual marriage between two women fulfills them then more power to them.
I did reply to you. I said no, I would not, but young people—who we’re presumably talking about in this thread—are growing up with very different circumstances and notions of social acceptability.
By the way, there's actually a term for the couple in the picture. Again with the understanding I don't have the ability to read the article. it's a homoromantic asexual couple. A lot more common are heteroromantic and homoromantic bisexuals but asexuals come in every flavor as well. They're just incredibly uncommon.
