[/quote] We had a June birthday "should-we-send-him-or-not" kid who was exhibiting some special needs and started him at a private K, both for the gentler introduction/smaller class size and for the increased emphasis on foundational skills. The theory was that if the year worked out badly, we'd send him to public K the next year. He did very well - better than expected - and next year we transferred him to first grade in public.[/quote] We did this too. The school environment is important.
