I feel sorry for the Girls out selling right now. The weather was nice last weekend, when we have two young ladies swing by, but I remember last year the weather being horrid for the door to door. I think that Girl Scouts should be looking at the weather in particular regions for sales so that the Girls are not out selling in the cold or extreme heat. I am not a huge fan of the cookies being sold to me around the Holidays but they store fine as long as you don't open the box, so that bothers me less. I am a bit baffled that Girl Scouts has not moved to prepay and have a way to take credit cards for door to door. I get that we want the kids doing the sales and handling money but BSA moved to an app for sales and taking credit cards which really increased my sons ability to sell door to door. It also makes delivery easier since people have paid for the product and you don't have to worry about them not having the money on hand when you go to deliver.
You can order online for girl delivery, which is essentially prepay. I wouldn't want to do prepay for in-person sales because I know there would be some dispute about what was bought vs delivered. However, I do wish GSNC or national would negotiate a deal to reduce or waive credit card processing fees. We can accept credit cards but doing so eats a huge chunk of the profit.
I'm the GSCM poster here. Are you guys ABC or LBB? We're ABC and the ABC cookie app absolutely allows girls to take credit cards, both at booths and for individual orders, and there is no fee for the girl or the customer. Surely you guys have an app that takes credit cards for free, right? If not I'd be raising holy hell through your SU delegate to Council.
So far as I am aware, we do not. Can you say more about the app?
The app ABC Bakers use is called "Smart Cookies" You use the same login for the app as you use for online orders, etc. Within the app (and the desktop version too), is the option to Manage Orders, and within that you can place an order and enter credit card info. (Supposedly you can use the camera to input the credit card info, but I've never gotten that to work - DD always just has to type in the number.) There is a separate option to take credit cards during booth sales, so that it gets credited to the booth and not the individual girl who is logged into the app. I just tried to log into the app to get screen shots, but since our sale is over I don't have those options any more. But it's pretty easy and free! Looks like you guys are Little Brownie Baker. I assume their digital cookie app has a similar feature, but I'm not sure. Definitely worth looking into!
DP. My understanding is that the Little Brownie app, Digital Cookie, doesn't let you credit it to the booth rather than the individual girl.
