With the extreme contagiousness of the new variants and the fact that very few are still masking, I'm not sure we can assume the mild cases of the past will continue. People are getting much higher viral loads--kids included.
I don’t know that you can make this correlation with any confidence. My kids got Covid a few weeks ago, they are vaxxed but not boosted, and 1 was completely asymptomatic and the other had a minor cough. We were on vacation and no one was masking. We actually never would have known the kids had Covid but for the fact that DH and I got Covid and were symptomatic so we tested the kids.
It sounds like covid is less than a cold for most kids. My kids went to sleepaway camp and tested negative for covid, but brought back s nasty cold thats dragged on for a week now- stuffy head, cough, runny nose, low fever, headache. I have it too, and it’s the pitts.
