About 2000 kids die a year from abuse/neglect, overwhelmingly at the hands of their parents.  [b]How many of those 2000 children would be alive if someone called CPS when they saw something happening to them one day at the park?[/b]

No child— not one single child— will be taken away from their family over a video of their mother swearing at them, but it might trigger a home visit/investigation that turned up the fact that the child really was in danger. [/quote]
so you think that adding any parent who swears at their child to the already unmanageable crazy high CPS caseloads will save more children? ooookay.

Since you don't know where to begin:

Start by recognizing this is not healthy behavior.  When/if you can grasp that concept move to think about ways society can get the mother to behave more appropriately toward her child. Now, I know this will be hard for you and it may hurt your tiny brain.  You can stop here if it's too much.  If you want an added challenge you can think of ways to link these parents to resources that may not be directly through CPS but through community outreach that may offer more assistance.  Your brain probably will explode, so let's take a break.[/quote]
