DAMN! Y’all need to chill! He doesn’t need YOUR forgiveness! What did he do to YOU? He assaulted Chris Rock, not you! Don’t get me wrong, I was shocked and disappointed by a lot of his actions that night. But DAMN, show him some grace! In the 20+ years that he has been in the public eye, he has walked the line. I’s like to thing that this one moment in his life does not define who he is. Again grace! I am so happy that my mistakes, were not done on TV for the world to see. If Mike Tyson can recover after biting off a piece of Evander Holyfield’s ear, then so can Mr. Smith.
Thank you. We aren’t defined by our worst moment in life or shouldn’t be. You’re the kind of person I could be friends with, not these other ‘perfect’ people on here.
No, we are not defined by pur worst moments; but we should make sincere and immediate amends. Not just PR apologies.
His apology the day after it happened was sincere. Also, we have no idea what he said to Chris Rock privately.
After he received his Oscar and a standing ovation. Never mind that the other winners couldn't get the response they deserved for their hard work and efforts. Months later with a 35+ million paycheck in the works...needed to say a little more...
Did you actually read his apologies? He literally said he apologizes to the entire academy, everyone that was there, the producers and everyone around the world. He apologized to Chris's mother, he apologized for the shame he brought to his family, he apologized to everyone that worked with him on King Richard. He said he understands that the damage to his relationship with Chris' brother is permanently damaged. I'm beginning to think some of you all didn't even bother to really read and listen to what he said. I get it if you think what he did is unforgivable, but some of you guys are saying he should have said blah blah blah, when he actually did say blah blah blah.
The fact that he didn’t do a sincere apology for months speaks to the kind of person he is…
I think the first apology seemed more sincere than the newer one which seems attached to promo and was more like an interview.
He DOES need the public's forgiveness if he wants the public to continue to pay to see his movies. The faux interview setting was weird, and his speech seemed stilted. It was not a success in my opinion.
