Our democracy, our freedoms and our rights are being taken from us and people are clutching their pearls over *gasp* noisy protesters. Give me a break. This is the test of our time and so many are failing miserably. Get it together people, this is exactly why we are here as a country. How in the world can you get upset over people rightfully displaying their anger over the lost of a fundamental constitutional right and which relegates women to second class citizens? And for those saying that protests never work, are you kidding me? May I refer you to the, I don't know, Cilvil Rights movement as a humble example...
?Our democracy is being taken from us? Uh, that what legislatures are. Which is what the Supreme Court just empowered. (In case you haven't thought it through, having 9 unelected people making laws instead of just declaring them constitutional or not, is actually undemocratic.) No one is taking your right to peacefully assemble, to petition your grievances, to vote and to live in a state that agrees with your values and right to kill your own child. (Which you already do if you are responding to this thread.) Pull out a civics textbook and get to know your actual rights.
Legislatures do not have unlimited power to make any and all laws that they want. Roe v Wade was not having 9 unelected people make laws. It was giving women rights over their own bodies and saying that legislatures did not have the rights to make laws that infringed on the rights of women to make their own medical decisions. The constitution does not give legislatures the right to pass laws about abortion - the Bill of Rights says that all rights not enumerated in the Constitution are reserved for the state and the people. Six unelected judges, all but one of whom were appointed by a president who lost the popular vote, decided that the states have more rights than the people. That is what people are upset about. There are no babies and nobody is killing babies. It isn't a baby if it can't survive without the mother being alive and making sure it grows before giving birth to it.
