Oh good. Another thread started by a parent who despite having plenty of options and strong local public schools - and moved to their respective neighborhood to avoid high FARMS, ESOL, etc - begrudges that families in DCC have one or two nice things.
I don't want my tax dollars dictated only by people in Silver Spring. Perhaps Montgomery County could be made smaller? Split it down 270 or maybe 200/370/28/112? That way parents on one end aren't forced to do things that parents on the other end want?
The good news is that your tax dollars are dictated by a variety of bodies, including the County Council, the School Board, and the state legislature. However, it's not like "your" elected representatives from West County are constantly battling with the East County reps. They all pretty much vote the same way, suggesting that they are reflecting the broad will of the electorate. That may not be your personal will, but c'est la vie in a democracy.
