We're about to move into a rental right near the Evening Star Cafe and I'll be commuting to Penn Quarter (right near Capital One Arena).  Need to be at work around 8a and done by 4/4:30.

What route would you recommend in the AM and coming back in the PM?  
Google maps suggest cutting down to slaters-&gt;GW in the AM (and reversed in the PM) but not sure how wise it is to head south to go north at those times and vice-versa.

The Google maps route isn't unreasonable. Before 8am, it will take you about 4 or 5 min to get onto GW Parkway going from Evening Star to Slaters. GW to 395 will be about 7 min. 14th exit from there. The only downside to going that way is that you can't use the 395 HOV lanes. Those do cut a huge amount of time, particularly when crossing 14th St Bridge. I'd give yourself 30 min, but you'll find it takes less on average. [/quote]
