French media has been reporting several incidents of Indian citizens (mostly graduate students and young professionals) having difficulty crossing the boarder including a few reports of groups chartering buses only to be dropped 15km from the Polish boarder and instructed to walk the rest of the way, and then not to be allowed in. Nigeria is also complaining of similar treatment of their students so they sent representatives from their Polish embassy to the boarder crossing to help. This is from tvdefrance for which you need a paid subscription to stream and it is also only in French.
That can't be true pp after all it's all Russian propaganda
well, my streaming subscription is basically like xfinity and includes all the channels I would be able to get back home including SEVERAL news channels. Most are reporting about this issue with the Polish boarder. French media is usually very objective and non bias, in particular the 8pm/ 20:00 news which people in France still watch.
DP. But what are those stations basing their reports on? If they are all jumping to be first to report based on a couple of unverified anecdotes, then it is entirely possible their reporting does not accurately reflect what is happening on the ground.
French Expat PP here. The stations have “boots on the ground” as you say. They’re reporting from the Ukraine and from Poland. The journalists are there. So they’re verified accounts. I am pretty surprised at resistance to posters accepting these reports. You can also read lemonde.fr if you want it from a newspaper. The French press is reporting today it is now being recommended for African and Indian citizens to try to exit through Hungary instead of Poland (if they can get there) which historically has had a horrible track record with racism, human rights, etc. So imagine it is so bad in Poland they tell you to go to Hungary. But Hungary has said they’re willing to take and help them and are waiting to receive.
Assuming this is all accurate, then there is your answer. The issue is Poland, not Ukraine, so demonizing Ukraine for not fixing this issue with Poland for its non-citizens when it is in the middle of being invaded by Russia on three sides is a whole lot of victim blaming. Be better than that, FFS.
It’s both Ukraine and Poland.
That doesn’t make sense. If Ukraine were refusing to profess these people at all, they wouldn’t be able to get into Hungary either. The pro-Russia propaganda/ignorance is so tedious.
