Question for those concerned about racism in lacrosse - what is the end point - in other words, what would need to happen for you to be satisfied and move on?
For the racism to stop. People need to stop being racist. That’s the simple solution.
Well, if the bar for racism is a minority to not play their preferred position, or not have bad calls from a ref against them, I hate to break it to you, but that's not ever going to happen. Prob doesn't help to have someone say "We can take over the sport", either.
What’s wrong with the girl being confident enough to say she can take over? Any kid should be given an equal chance to play the position they prefer and no player should have calls against them because them and be penalized for the sole reason of being Black. Where in the rules is it a violation to say “I got ball”? Maybe it was a coincidence, but if the white players saying similar phrases weren’t penalized, I would also assume it was racism also. Making all these excuses and trying to pretend the racism isn’t there doesn’t work. I’d have more respect for you if you just admitted that you are comfortable being racist and don’t continue to stop, than making up all this BS and swearing the racism doesn’t exist.
She didn't say "she can takeover" she said "we can takeover". She is saying white players aren't good enough to compete with black players, and it was bluntly. "Any kid should be given an equal chance to play the position they prefer", the coach decides who plays where, and how much for the good of the team, seems like you never played sports if you think players deciding position is okay. " Where in the rules is it a violation to say “I got ball”?" Its such an absurd thing to say, no one in right mind would call a card on that, was there also a cross check at same time? I'd love to hear what coach thinks cause if Im her coach and she got a red card for saying I got Ball, I'd be getting thrown out of the game. For sake of argument, if there is some KKK Ref out there, why not just call a Red on a play that had legit contact? I mean the accusation is just absurd.
