I think it’s a geographically convenient school with strong academics; I’m not sure why it’s getting so much hate in this thread.
I'm not seeing too much "hate" so much as just calling it what it is. No one's saying Emory is a terrible school. It's a great school, just definitely not underrated and maybe a little overrated. Which is fine.
You need a hobby. Most of the negative comments are from you and one other person. And you can't answer simple questions, Why is Emory's ranking consistently 20 across multiple rankings? Why are its sat scores higher than Umich and Georgetown if those schools are better? Why do Emory grads make more than Vandy grads and almost as much as Cornell grads if these schools are so much better? Where's the data on placement that says Emory has a worse placement at top companies? Stop trolling the forum and answer the questions and bring facts not feelings.
I feel genuinely a little sad for you if you really think there’s only one or two people on this thread who think Emory’s a little overrated. Emory almost never comes up in any conversation IRL when talking about prestigious or elite schools, and the vast majority of people wouldn’t place it above Georgetown, let alone a place like Cornell.
Okay troll, the majority of the rankings place Emory above Georgetown. That's what really matters. I don't know who you think you are trying to speak for the majority...
Forbes, Niche never ranked Emory over Gtown. Also, the majority of the rankings place Wake Forest over Ga Tech as well as Boston College. UChicago has ranked above Stanford for several years
That the best you can do Forbes and NICHE?! Gatech and Boston College have never been top 25 schools nor will they ever be so who cares. USnews isn't the only ranking either. https://www.timeshighereducation.com/rankings/united-states/2022#!/page/0/length/25/sort_by/rank/sort_order/asc/cols/stats
Calm down, the ranking where Emory is above Williams could support your opinion? Ga Tech and BC never been top25 does not ruin the fact that they are better than WFU, the school ranks better, which is enough to disprove your statement. Also, all these schools have their common data sets where you can find accurate admission data. Their undergraduate outcome data would give you better a perspective.
They aren't better than Wake Forest. Wake is a great school. Salary has nothing to do with whether a school is great or not. Brown has low salary output, lower than almost all of these schools. Emory and Williams are peers, BC and GaTech are not and never will be. Don't know why you keep bringing those schools up, you must have went to one of them. They hardly are even third tier. If WSJ is a bad ranking (it isn't, it's better than US news) then Forbes and NICHE are much worse, especially when Forbes says UC Berkeley is the best school in the country. Most Emory students have no chance to get accepted by Columbia which is closed to Emory's ranking on WSJ. 84% students pick Cal over Emory when they are accepted by both on Parchment. Cal ranks 36 on WSJ
